Applicant must be 24 years of age
with at least 100,000 miles of tractor/trailer experience.
Must be able to operate in all 48 states and Canada.
The following items must be completed and reviewed by our
Safety Department before they can be leased on to Valley
Transportation.
- Driver Application
- Past employment review.
- Pre-employment drug test
results.
- Current DOT long form
medical exam.
Valley Transportation will
obtain your MVR through it's Insurance Company. Valley
Transportation has the right to hire or deny your
application upon review. Drug and alcohol testing will
be paid by Valley Transportation, medical exam payments are
your responsibility. All Owner/Operators and Drivers
will be subject to quarterly random drug and alcohol
testing.
Driver Eligibility
Requirements Are As Follows:
General - Applicable to all
drivers:
- Must hold a valid
Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
- Must be at least 24 years
of age, and no more than 65 pending health certification
by US DOT.
- Must have a minimum 3
years over the road verifiable driving experience in the
type of equipment to be insured.
- Must have no major
violations within the past 36 months. Refer to the
list of major violations below.
- Uniform Requirement: All drivers must have steel-toed boots to wear while on duty
Drivers with the following
are not acceptable:
- Between the ages of 24 and
25 having: more than 2 minor moving violations within
the past 12 months;
- More than 3 minor moving
violations within the past 36 months;
- An at-fault accident
within the past 36 months;
- More than 3 minor moving
violations in combination with one at-fault accident
within the past 36 months.
- Age 25 and over having
more than 3 minor moving violations within the past 24
months;
- More than 4 minor moving
violations within the past 36 months
- More than 1 at-fault
accident within the past 36 months.
Definitions of Major and
Minor Violations
Major Violations:
- Leaving the scene of an
accident;
- DUI or DWI;
- Hit and run;
- Reckless driving or
conduct;
- Felony with vehicle;
- Racing or dragging;
- Excessive speed, over 20
miles over posted limit;
- Eluding police;
- Passing a school bus;
- Allowing a DUI or DWI or
unlicensed person to drive;
- Driving with suspended,
revoked or fraudulent licesne;
- Failure to report or
making a false report of an accident.
Minor Violations:
Any moving violation other than as noted above such as;
- Speeding less than 20
miles above posted speed;
- Violation of traffic
control device;
- Lane violation;
- Failure to yield;
- Following too close;
- At fault accidents not
involving a major violation.
